Learning From nature

Learning from Nature

What is nature? It is the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creation (retrieved February 14th from Google). So, learning from nature means that we attained knowledge by simply observing and/or understanding our surrounding. Which some people usually get inspired to make new ideas.

A lot of people have made new invention to utilize nature’s components as well as possible. Such as using the wind, water, geothermal or geo pressure as a new source of energy. Using castor beans as bio fuel. Even using animal waste as biogas. Some people have also use the sun as their source of electricity. There are a lot of new technology nowadays that allow people to use every piece of nature to complete their needs.

As human beings, we are inseparable with nature, it’s because we’re part of nature and we need them to sustain our life. It has come to the idea that nature gave us a lot of things, so, what did we give to nature as a form of appreciation? Based on my experience I’ve done quite a lot of things to preserve nature. For example, I grow plants on my lawn, recycle organic waste and turn it into fertilizer, throwing garbage based on their kinds, using cotton bags instead of plastic ones, and other things. Without us knowing, we simply do small things that could help preserve nature like reusing scrap papers.

But, as we know, there are good and bad in this world. We cut down trees for our needs. We turn them into furniture and papers. We cut them down so we can make a new land for houses and buildings. Little do we know, we’re also cutting down our water supply. Houses that are built near the cliff or the higher region are prone to erosion. We didn’t just cut trees, we basically dumps all our waste and trash into nature. Factories dump their waste into the open sea or water resource. They produce gas that could harm our ozone and air. We use our own transportation that also produce harmful gas. There are also people who throw away their garbage everywhere. We also use too much electricity, we turn on all the lights even though it’s day, we turn on our televisions all night even though we’re sleeping, we do a lot of things to waste electricity. And last but not least, water. Some people use too much water or throw their trash to rivers.

If we want to keep harvesting the good of nature, we must keep it as stable as we can. We can start by planting trees or plants in our house. Recycle trash or simply reuse them. Use public transportation instead of private one. I hope that people will become more aware of their surroundings and help to preserve them. Also, I hope that as the new generation we could come up with great new ideas and technology to preserve nature and/or utilize their components.

My Favorite Song

Hello !
On today's blogpost, I'm going to tell you about one of my favorite song. As a person who likes listening to music, it's pretty hard to find the right one because I have a lot of favorite songs and some of them means something to me, wether it reminded me of small memories or big ones.

So, in this opportunity I'm going to talk about Suburbia by Troye Sivan. So, here's the lyrics and I'll explain what this song means to me.

 Suburbia
The sun sets longer
Where I am from
Where dreams go to die
While having fun
The boys fix their cars and
Girls eat it up
Loving's so good when
Love is young

Yeah, there's so much history in these streets
And mama's good eats
And Wonder on repeat
There's so much history in my head
The people I've left
The ones that I've kept

Have you heard me on the radio?
Did you turn it up?
On your blown-out stereo
In suburbia
Could be playing hide and seek from home
Can't replace my blood
Yeah, it seems I'm never letting go
Of suburbia

Swallow nostalgia
Chase it with lime
Better than dwelling
And chasing time
Missing occasions
I can't rewind
Can't help but feel I've lost what's mine

Yeah, there's so much history in these streets
And mama's good eats
And Wonder on repeat
There's so much history in my head
The people I've left
The ones that I've kept

Have you heard me on the radio?
Did you turn it up?
On your blown-out stereo
In suburbia
Could be playing hide and seek from home
Can't replace my blood
Yeah, it seems I'm never letting go
Of suburbia

They all say that nothing ever changes
Through the new lines that are on their faces
They all say that nothing ever changes
Through the new lines that are on their faces

Yeah, there's so much history in these streets
And mama's good eats
And Wonder on repeat
There's so much history in my head
The people I've left
The ones that I've kept

Have you heard me on the radio?
Did you turn it up?
On your blown-out stereo
In suburbia
Could be playing hide and seek from home
Can't replace my blood
Yeah, it seems I'm never letting go
Of suburbia

In this song the singer basically talks about his home or his childhood and the people who's involved in it. I love this song because it reminds me about all the memories with my junior high school friends. The genre of this music is alternative/indie and also pop, it's kind of slow but not so slow it puts you to sleep. My favorite line from the song is "the people I've left, the ones that i've kept" it relates to me in several different ways because graduating from Junior Highschool means that I have to leave some people behind and you never know if you're going to have the same bond like you had before, but then you have some people who still mantain the bond you built after a couple of years of friendship. The second favorite line of mine is "Yeah, it seems I'm never letting go of suburbia" for me it means that I have to always remember where I came from and all of the people who support me until this point of my life. And it also kind of refers on how I'm so easily attached to people when I feel very comfortable around them and it makes me feel like I don't want us to drift appart, which can be concluded that I'm not a big fan of letting go.

So, that's pretty much it, I recommend listening to this song while reading a book or when you're just simply chilling out.

My Family Trip

I'm going to tell you about my trip with my family, so basically we decided to spend our holiday in Jawa Timur and Bali

On 25th of December, my family and I went to Gresik by train. The train left at around 06.30 pm, it took about 13 hours to get there. We arrived the next morning and took a rest for the rest of the day.
On 27th of December, we woke up early in the morning because we are going to Bali by car, it is around 10 hours trip. We didn't drive by car all the way to Bali because we have to get across by ferry. And again we took the rest of the day to prepare for the next day.
The next day we got the chance to snorkel, it's just a regular snorkel around the beach, nothing special, because we use this opportunity to practice before the real snorkel. After we're done, we went sightseeing to Pura Belatung, we took a lot of photos and had a nice chat with the caretaker. The next place we went to is White Sandy Beach, again we took a lot of photos.
On the 29th of December, I was woken up with a pleasant surprise, my cousin stood in front of my hotel room door and sang happy birthday for me, complete with all the cake and candles. After all of that, we ride a boat to go dolphin sightseeing, we saw a couple of dolphin, I was really happy even though I can't see the dolphin clearly. And then, we went snorkeling, we stopped in place but then we moved to the other because the wave was too strong for us. On the second place, it is much more shallow. It was fine and all until all of us suddenly got an itch in some area. One of my cousin find out what caused the itch and it was a small jellyfish. We swam into the deeper part, there were a lot of beautiful fish, corals and starfish. There are also shells, sea urchin and a coral that needs to be avoided because it's poisonous. We went back to our hotel at around noon and went back.On the same day we were going to go to Kawah Ijen but most of us decided that it wasn't a good idea because we're all tired. So, we looked for hotels in Banyuwangi and decide to stay there for a night. The next day, we went back to Gresik, we arrived at around 11 pm and took a rest.
On 31st of December, some of us decided to go to the mall we shop for food and had a karaoke for about 2 hours. When we arrived home, we cooked for New Years, there were a lot of food. It's not that fun because we end up sleeping quite early.
On 1st of January, we went to the mall, again, a different one though. We went to the cinema and decided to watch Why Him ? it was really funny and we all enjoyed it.
My family and i went back to Bandung at 3rd of January by train, and arrived early in the morning the next day. Overall it is a very fun trip and I really enjoyed it, there were a lot of laughs among us, and I hope you all had a nice holiday too.
